A water crock does more than filter your drinking water when you use your water bottle. Some water crocks add a little extra sunshine when they are decorated to look as if they belong right in the kitchen even if it is at the office or other business entity. A ceramic water crock may come in all kinds of designs and styles from many collections such as animal, beach, country, embossed, embossed sports, solids and stripes or spiritual among others. You may also find angel, fruit, floral, kitchen and wine or scenery designs.
A crock water dispenser not only acts as a filter without the use of an electric water cooler but also keeps water cool. It can also be used for beverages such as juice or tea, so it would be best to keep around during the hottest season. Crock water dispensers fit on many types of stands and can support heavy water bottles usually from three to five gallons. However, a plastic crock protection ring may be necessary to help keep water clean from environmental dirt when you are using a bottle or lid.
It is not always necessary to use already bottled water with a water crock. Many are stand alone filters that eliminate contaminants such as aluminum, chlorine, iron, lead and pesticides. They may also filter out cryptosporidium, giardia and sediment. Water crocks allow you to use water straight from your tap as drinking water. However, you will need to change any filters the device uses. A filter may have to be changed about every six months or every 300 gallons. You may want to check with the manufacturer to get specific recommendations.
Ceramic water crocks are becoming more commonplace these days, so you can find them usually very inexpensively. Most may not cost more than $30 and many more may be even less expensive. Of course you will pay more if you decide to get a compatible stand. Still, there are a plethora of options.
For instance, Pioneer manufactures a ceramic crock water dispenser with a counter stand. This crock does not require you to clean a reservoir and even fits in the dishwasher. However, the accompanying wooden stand requires some assembly. It is strong enough to support three- and five-gallon water bottles.
